Mac vs. PC - Which One is For You?

Everyone knows about the ongoing controversy of the Mac vs. PC battle. Each has its share of strengths and weaknesses. What is seems to come down to is personal preference. If you have an informal alliance with either brand and have been happy with it in the past, stick with it. If you are a first-time computer buyer or you are looking for a less expensive computer, go with a PC. If the thought of getting viruses scares you to death, purchase a Mac. Whatever you use at work, it makes sense to buy the same for home use so they match and there is no need to change your mind set when you are at home or work.
As far as the differing operating systems on a Mac vs. PC, both types boast top-of-the-line systems that operate well. People who purchase computers with security concerns should go with a Mac. They are simply safer. This is because various nasty viruses, worms and Trojan horses are written to attack the Windows operating systems. Mac computers cannot run “.exe” files, something that can seem a curse, but it is a security blessing. Other traps still await Mac users, but no computer is safe from every attack. However, because of the curse Macs have of not being able to open “.exe” files, software is almost always combatable with a PC when it is not with a Mac.
Many basic programs like Microsoft Office and Outlook for Windows are mimicked on Mac computers as Mac 2008 and Entourage. They do basically the same thing and Mac users are not put off by this. However, specialty programs that professionals and scientists use usually only with Windows operating systems. For gamers, the obvious choice in the Mac vs. PC debate is a PC. For price, PC is also always the winner, especially when purchasing refurbished desktops or refurbished laptops. Mac laptops come much more expensive than Windows and Apple monitors of the same dimensions as a Dell, Samsung or Acer can cost three times more. Buying a refurbished monitor will save you even more.
In the persistent search battle of which type of computer model is better, a Mac or a PC, there is still no clear-cut winner. With the benefits and disadvantages of each, it ultimately comes down to personal preference. Both types reliably execute the tasks they were designed to perform. Besides, there are more options out there than these two powerhouses. Who knows, in a decade or two we could be utilizing a completely different system and the Mac vs. PC debate can end.

I think it really depends on what kind of user you are. The truth is, for most of your basic computer needs such as e-mailing, word processing, photo editing and sharing, and music management, either Mac or PC will do the trick.
Macs remain the computers of choice for creative types in the music, film, and design fields, which is something to consider if you’re planning on using your computer for film editing work, Web site design, or just want to make a demo tape of your band.
