I have a Dell GX260 Optiplex I bought several years ago thru Micro Center @ Overland Park, ks store.
I have misplaced my recovery disc. I have enough Corruption and junk on it that I want wipe the drive - or just replace it. Microsoft tells me that the system is to old for them to help me with an authorization number. I have to get Micro Center or Joy to help me.
Can you offer me a solution short of buying a new computer?

I have to say right now I'm not very happy with the pre-installed Win XP Pro sp3 on my re-built hp5100.
I can not install Intell 910GL express chip assy or the PCI Root port.
I tried contacting Intel but they say it is a"generic" copy and out of their control.

How can I get these pieces of missing or non-functioning software?
If I have to take it to a serviceperson to have this re-done properly then I have pretty much lost the advantage of buying re-built haven't I?

I never heard of certificate of authenticity for used computers.
This is really great information to know.
Thank you very much.
